4th of July
We had such a great fourth of July. My sister and her 3 younger boys were able to come. Her oldest and husband were at scout camp all week so we got to enjoy them at my house. We started out with a breakfast at the church. The kids were able to decorate their bikes and have a parade around the parking lot. So fun.
We then went to a big parade and out to lunch. Yum!!! Although the parade would have been a lot better had candy been thrown to us. Seriously, what is a parade good for without candy?
We came home so the littles could get a nap. Sadly and not so sadly none of them fell asleep but all of the adults did. I made this fruit dish for the street party. I had been hearing for a few days that my street was going to be throwing a big bash on the fourth. I just didn't know how big or great it was going to be. It was big. We had a bounce house, a splash pad set up on the street, mounds of good food, tons of great company and then to top it off some seriously big illegal fireworks. It was a happening party.
Every year I keep thinking this is the year my kids won't be scared of fireworks. Hasn't happened yet. Luckily our very kind neighbor had the perfect pink headphones for Haylee to wear to block the noise. Made for a perfect night with that girl. Really we had the perfect day. I'm so so so grateful to live in our beautiful country and enjoy our freedom. What a blessing.
