January 2017

For Christmas Hunter had been asking for football pads. He'd been asking for months and months in advance. He was so excited. Christmas morning and the couple of days after he was so sick and not able to even get out of bed. Then we went to boise so he didn't even get to enjoy his presents. It was really nice that in January he really had fun playing with his Christmas presents. It came in really handy because for two weeks we had massive amounts of snow. Not really, but for here we did. The city literally shuts down if there is any snow on the ground. If it snows here it usually melts within a day or so. Not this storm. We had 15 inches and then it stuck around for over a week. Combined with the ice storm we had previously, for two weeks we didn't have school or church. When hunter wasn't in his snow clothes he was in his football pads! Haylee got a camera for Christmas and was going around the house setting up photo shoots all over the place. We also had lots of movie nights. And we sure stayed cozy!!

With all the missed school days we made sure to do a little of our own schooling. For this project they had to write a story about all the snow and what they liked doing most in the snow. They also needed to draw some pictures illustrating their stories. In between all of our snow Weston got the kids up to the mountain a few times to continue their ski lessons. They are getting pretty good this year. They even showed me a picture of them skiing the black diamond!
A little photo session with Haylee. And the snow still hasn't melted!
It's funny, for Christmas I always put snowflakes on our windows so we can have our white Christmas. Not needed this year but we liked them anyway. When all the snow was finally gone the first thing I did was take down those snowflakes. No more snow for us! Since we didn't get out as much as normal I was able to work on a few decorating projects around the house (my favorite hobby)
When the snow melted and after 9 nine snow days in a row, I felt like it was the first day of school again, so we documented it.
Hudson one night for dinner put his hand directly on the hot griddle. Luckily it was turned down pretty low but he had some good blistering on his hand and cried for a couple hours straight as it continued to burn. We sat on the couch for a long time with him until he was able to calm down. It was oh so very sad to see him in pain like that. We kept on covering it with cold wet paper towels and we slathered it in toothpaste. It works like burn cream. Luckily in a week or so it had healed really well.
Also in January my dining room table looked like this for most of the month. It's a rare occasion when my table is not covered in primary things. I think when a bishop is extending the call to be in primary he should ask if they have a dining room table. I don't know how I would do this calling without it. I put on the priesthood preview and great to be 8 firesides in January. I love being with my kids. All 98 of them!! It's the best when I go to the elementary school in the week for various reasons and I constantly hear, "Sister Teuscher, Sister Teuscher!" I get lots of hugs from my primary kids when I see them during them week. The future of the church is in good hands. The youth and children of the church are so strong!!
