June 2017

I need to hurry and post about our Summer before it's about to be over. June was packed full with end of spring sports, end of school and start of our summer activities. There is a national day for everything it seems and I don't give in to many of them but national donut day, we will celebrate. It was a gorgeous day so we picked up some donuts and headed to the park.

Hudson is always, always running away from me. These pictures just sum up my past year. He can't ever stay with the group or activity. He takes off and never looks back. It's been a good workout for me.
Haylee had fun making her long house for the end of year third grade report. She especially loved her touch of adding a fur rug and fleece blankets in a basket.
Hunter celebrated a win with his team at the end of baseball season.
Hunter did a book report on pythons. Part of the project was drawing a picture of the animal you researched. Hunter took it one step further and brought in a python to show his class. In his classmates eye's he kind of turned into a superhero that day.
And I just have to document this cute girl. Her name is pyper and she has a mega crush on Hunter. She tells her mom and big brothers that Hunter is her boyfriend. She said she likes him because he is nice and really good at sports. She is in our primary and whenever we have their family over she gets really really shy around him and refused to even look at him. Kindergarten crushes are kind of my favorite. And now she tells her mom she wants a pet python because Hunter brought one in to school to show her.
I ordered some caterpillars online for the kids to watch turn into butterflies. We had fun with this little experiment. It ws a little stressful because I had to mix a sugar solution and put drops into the net for the butterflies for a couple of days before we let them go. I am so not good at taking care of live things, except for children. But they survived and hopefully we gave them a good start to their adventure in the wild.
Not pictured is our first experience with a child trying out for a sports team. Haylee has played on the same rec soccer team for 3 seasons, made some great friends, and really excelled as a player. A couple of her friends were trying out for the club team, including the coach's daughter. So her rec team would be dissolved and she would start with a new rec team. Haylee really wanted to try out for the club team, so we let her try out just mostly for the experience and to see what the next level of play was like. They were going to form 3 teams for her age level. team 1 and 2 would be premier teams and team 3 would pretty much be a team in between rec and club. Great, team 3 sounded like the perfect team for her. But Haylee made team 2 so then we really had to decide if we were ready to jump up to the next level. We are giving it a try this year and so far she is having a really fun time. There is a lot to learn but she is still loving the sport and learning a lot. We had some cousins come to town. That is always so exciting for us. Being around cousins and family is really what makes us most happy.
We did a fun fhe one night where we talked about what happened each day of the creation. We drew names to see who had to draw what happened on each day. When Hudson got picked he decided to add something to each day.
More family time. Game night with Molly and Jeremy. Game of choice, LIFE.
Hunter had a field trip at the zoo, so I tagged along with my own little monkey. Except he did not want to be a monkey that day.
We felt the need to make some fourth of July decorations, even though we were still in school.
He had to count the stars to make sure he got all 50 on there. For Father's day weekend we saw a movie together, and just because Weston is such a great dad, I went out one night with my fried while our hubbies watched all the kids together. We went to the Mac store and did a major revamp on all my makeup. It was so much fun!
Weston decided to coach Hunter's flag football team for the upcoming fall season so training began. But in reality, Hunter is always training for some sport. Hudson is the perfect weight to pull.
I took some time to organize our summer activities and put together some calendars before the kids were out of school. Starting f rom day 1 I wanted some sort of plan to follow, whether we followed it or not, it felt good to be organized. And let me say, It helped us to have such a fun summer!
Finally, we were out of school, but not before we went to Hunter's kindergarten graduation. And I made the kids take pictures over their stars and paw marks at the school. Hunter earned a star for running the most laps out of the kindergarten class at the fun run and Haylee earned a paw for running a certain amount of laps. On the last day of school I couldn't get the kids to leave the school because they wanted to play wall ball for hours. Both of them loved playing at recess this past school year.
Haylee had her first soccer tournament of the summer and immediately following we went straight to a kids fun run. They ran a mile in a 100 degree weather. I was so worried about Haylee getting heat stroke. She played a game at 1 pm and 4 pm and then the run was at 6 pm. But she is a rockstar and got 2 place for the girls in the run. She ran it in 7 minutes 6 secons. She is a beast. Hunter finished right after her at 7 mins 42 seconds. Why do kids have so much energy???
Summer began with me introducing to the kids a way for them to earn money. They need to do a few things to earn a buck every day, then they save all summer to buy school clothes at the end of summer. Sometimes we get distracted getting our jobs done and have potatoes sack races.
Hunter was continually reminding us all that his birthday was soon. So we made him a sign.
One of our first summer activities was berry picking on Sauvie Island. It was so peaceful and beautiful that day. Not many people were picking that day so we felt like we had the whole island to ourselves. After picking some strawberries and blueberries the kids and I went exploring a bit. We found a tree knocked down and the kids played happily on it for a couple of hours. We finished the day buying our berries in a very cute little market while buying a few more goodies, like ice cream cones.
And June started off our season of getting shaved ice

We just released our butterflies this afternoon! I got them for Brielle's birthday. It was a fun thing to do...we want to get more in the spring!

I hear ya on the running toddler thing...all I do is chase Adeline, who never looks back and doesn't seem to care if we are around or not! Ha. I'm glad to hear I'm not alone in that. :)

Great pictures! The cutie pie kids are getting so big.
