I keep on wondering why I'm so exhausted trying to keep these kids entertained this summer. I really feel like we haven't done much and then I look at all of my pictures and I get tired just looking through them all. Yes, we are keeping busy. In between teaching my kids to work, chasing a toddler, being the primary president, trying to eliminate too much screen time this summer, keeping up with summer reading, and really the list could go on and on, I am enjoying not having too much of a schedule this summer. Here are our latest activities.
We had fun celebrating Weston on Father's Day Trips to get sno cones and we just got our own sno cone machine. Our first sno cone/pool party is coming later this week!!! This kept the kids busy for a week straight. Our playroom turned into a mall. The kids were so creative with their stores and neighbor kids and school friends all got to join in on the fun. Best of all, my teaching the kids to work was put into full effect cleaning it all up!! We have been to all sorts of shows at the libray. This juggler was standing in swords juggling knives. My feet were hurting just watching him. We've been to library carnivals, the reptile man, and a magic show. Despite all of our fun activities, I am not happy with this summer's weather. So much rain and cold weather!! Boo!! The kids are on a track team for a month. Today after practice we had to blast the heat to warm up. Sometimes he's the only one who shows up when it's time to work. And then I don't get my work done. Hudson is terrified of swings but he loves, loves, loves slides!!! Haylee has been asking the make lunch for the three of them a few times. I was upstairs and thought it was so cute seeing the three of them eating lunch together at the island. If only I had $3,000.00 to spare on this horse I would have bought it in a second. Just to play a prank on Weston. He was out of town and I wanted him to come home to this somewhere in our house. This pictures was from spring but I went to Spokane for a goodbye party for my very good friend who was moving to ST George. I made some of my very best friends and life long friends in Spokane/Coeur Dalene. It's always so fun going back to see them!! Fun at the splash pad. Mainly he likes to eat all of the snacks while the kids play in the water. Annual decorating of the bikes scooters for the fourth Happy fourth of July. We had a great ward pancake breakfast, a parade with friends, and a delicious bbq with more friends. Firework watching in our neighborhood. There is a fun park here with a pool, train ride, bounce houses, a pirate ship, paddle boating, mini golf, and a drinking fountain with pink lemonade. I mainly went for the pink lemonade. The Olympic track and field trials! A fun experience. the kids loved trying all of the events in the nike tent! Haylee got on TV doing the long jump! Friends over to slip n slide with. The baby is not Hudson. Same age and looks exactly like him though. We had to sit in front of the fire to warm up afterwards. Boo cold weather in summer!!! This little one is into anything and everything. I'm not ready to declare him a full on walker yet but he is very very close. Still crawls more than walking but he's right on the brink of taking off! Bug hunting with friends Swim lessons. I'm so proud of both Haylee and Hunter. They each learned their strokes and Haylee has a mean Butterfly stroke. She tested it and passed byswimming back and forth across the pool. It was impressive. There is no way I could do that. Especially since two years ago I would have called her a non swimmer. They also both learned how to back flip off the diving board. The last day of swim lessons they opened it up to siblings and parents to swim for a half hour. I happily volunteered Weston and Hudson was in heaven dunking the basketball for 30 mins. Our latest craft is prepping for the Olympics. Painting the Olympic rings. We've also been doing "get smart in 20" I set my timer for 20 mins and the kids have the option of writing in their journal, writing a story, flashcards, doing workbooks, letting me read to them, reading themselves, looking at the globe or world map and looking through our kid encyclopedias. Sometimes they moan and groan for the full 20 mins and other times they keep going past the 20 mins. We haven't been doing it consistenly every day. But we try and it's been fun learning along with them. Happy Summer, much more fun to be had!!
