The fall time and a new school year also means sports for our family. Haylee plays soccer and Hunter plays football and soccer. Between activity days, guitar, gymnastics, cooking classes and everyday errands we were in the car a lot.
Haylee every fall and winter does a little cheer camp at the highschool and then they perform at a football game and basketball game. I love watching her cheer. She has the biggest best smile on her face the whole time.
Among all the games we attend we have so much fun cheering each other on! We may or may not be the loudest fans on the sidelines!
Hunter had a fantastic soccer season this year. He scored at least 5 goals every game and I lost track after that. He often times would only play half the game because the coach wanted to give other kids a chance to touch the ball. I don't even know that he has that much skill especially at this age but he just loves to kick the ball and wants to be wherever the ball goes. Other kids at this age are kind of unaware there is a game going on so it makes it easy to get by them. I'm excited as he gets older when he starts playing against other kids with his ablilites. Although it will not be as fun when he can't score as much.
This was Hunter's first year playing football because he is only in kindergarten. It was flag and I really had no idea how it would go. He's been talking about playing on a football team since he was 2. He has done a couple of camps but I was curious to see how it would go. The first play of his first game they gave him the ball and he scored a touchdown. That's pretty much how the whole season went. He runs fast and he doesn't really care who is in his way. I really loved watching him play defense though. He has such a good sense of the field and really wouldn't allow anybody to score on him. Weston and I really had fun watching him play this season. Football makes me a little nervous. I like flag football but tackle at such young ages makes me really nervous. Maybe his love for football will go away??? He keeps asking when next season starts........ And all what he wants from Santa is real football pads.
Haylee has played with the same soccer team for three seasons now. She is becoming good friends with her team and it makes her practices and games really fun for her. Haylee is very fast. She can outrun almost anybody on the field. She is also normally the smallest. She is not the most aggressive out there but she has very good ball control and she can dribble past most defenders. She is a forward for the team and had so much fun this past season. The night before her last game we thought she might have broken a toe. It was swollen and it bruised very fast. The morning of her last game she was crying because she couldn't put any pressure on her foot. She said, i'm going to say and prayer and I'm going to score a goal in my last game. She only had 3 goals all season. She got to the game but couldn't get herself to play. It was wet, and her foot was really bothering her. I wanted to go home but I could see the other team was quite easier than some of their past opponets. Her team was playing a grade level higher this season so they had some really hard competition. I gave Haylee a little pep talk, told her I know you can score in this game and then she went on to score 4 goals. I've never seen her so happy before. A great ending to a great season!
